Unfortunately, due to the current Covid-19 situation, the Executive has chosen to postpone the previously arranged date for the 2020 Honours and Awards dinner. The rescheduled date is still to be decided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Every year, Branch 124 holds and Honours and Awards Ceremony. Members and their spouses are invited to attend the ceremony to recognize the contribution of our members. The following are presented at this meeting:
Pins are presented for years of continuous service starting at 5 years and continuing with multiples of 5 years (i.e. 10 yrs, 15 yrs, 20 yrs etc.).
As a means of recognizing the service of the Branch Executive, a method of acknowledging their dedication to the Purposes and Objectives of the Legion was implemented and has been in place since the organization was formed. The recognition is achieved through the awarding of Past Officer Medals and Bars.
The Certificate of Merit may be granted in recognition of service rendered to, or on behalf of the branch to honour a member for service which is considered to be above that which might be expected of an officer or member. The Certificate of Merit may also be granted to organizations, groups or persons outside the Legion in recognition of service(s) rendered to or on behalf of the branch.
The Certificate of Appreciation may be awarded to a member in recognition of service rendered to the branch.
A Certificate of Appreciation may also be awarded to individuals, companies or groups in recognition of special services rendered to the branch.
Volunteering offers meaningful opportunities to help Veterans and show their support. Our members make a real difference for those who gave so much for our freedoms. Volunteering through the Legion also offers the chance to give back to the community, meet neighbours, learn new skills, expand horizons and have fun!
Here are just a few great examples of our branches' volunteers.
