Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124 revived the Ladies Auxiliary in the spring of 2013 to help the branch executive with fundraising efforts and to be part of a larger circle of auxiliaries from coast to coast. Like the Legion, we are here to help veterans and their families.
Our ladies meet the first Tuesday of each month to catch up with each other and see what's on our agenda.
Initially, kitchen help was our primary function - preparing wake luncheons on short notice or making chili for Remembrance Day. The Niagara on the Lake Christmas Parade also provides the opportunity to raise funds with raffles and food, adding to the fun at the branch's annual ham & turkey roll. With the Fish Fry on hold until this fall, we have had a break from coleslaw preparations and assisting with serving customers from the community.
We are hoping to have our own fun annual golf tournament Sept 27/20 - TBA.
This Covid summer has stymied us all so much - we look forward to BBQs, renewing social contacts and auxiliary socials around our zone.
If you are interested in learning more or if we can be of any assistance please contact us.
During the 1914-1918 war years as wounded veterans returned home, women were asked to help with their recovery by visiting hospitals, sending parcels to the hospitalized and to needy families. These ladies served the veterans and their dependants. Thus, our Ladies' Auxiliary unofficially became a reality!
The members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary shall be available to assist the Branch in its activities. As the individual Branches are the most important element in the structure of the Royal Canadian Legion, thus the Ladies’ Auxiliary becomes a very integral part of the work of the Legion at all levels.
Becoming an Auxiliary member can be a very rewarding experience. Our Auxiliaries goals are important to us, and so are our members! They ensure that activities are planned for you to enjoy as well. It is recognized that not everyone wants to or can give the same time commitment to the Auxiliary, but we are grateful for whatever time you can spare to assist with the work of this great national organization.
