VETERANs SERVICES

You do not need to be a member to seek assistance!

If you do not apply, you will not know if you qualify.

The Legion is here to assist you by completing claims through any agency of Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).

We are concerned that Veterans, Still Serving and Former Members of the Canadian Armed Forces and/ or their dependants may not get all the available government support from Veterans Affairs Canada that they need and deserve. Veterans, serving and former members of the Canadian forces (regular or reserve), Merchant Navy veterans, serving or former members of the RCMP, and widows!

You may not be receiving all the benefits to which you are entitled. Or you may have a family member or friend who could benefit from speaking to one of our Service Officers.

Service Officer Role

Each Branch appoints a Veterans Services Chairman/Branch Service Officer who is available to advise and assist the Veterans, widows, ex-servicemen etc., in their communities.  You need not be a member of the Legion to use the services of a Provincial Service Officer.

Most Chairman are familiar with Veterans Affairs benefits, and are also aware of other Federal, Provincial and Municipal programs which exist and might be appropriate.

All information and questions brought to the Branch Service officer/Veteran Services Chairman are held in the strictest confidence.

The Veterans Services Chairman/Branch Service Officers works with the Provincial Service Officer and Counsellors at Veterans Affairs Canada to ensure that requests for assistance are referred to the attention of the proper persons or authority.

Provincial Service Officer

The Provincial Service Officer was last present at Branch17 in Thorold from June 17th-19th. The next date the Service Officer will be around locally is still to be announced. You  may contact our Branch Service Officer if you have any questions or need assistance.
